“Photovoltaics in Russia “ (Call Open)
During the last years, one could observe profound changes on the global PV market. The number of market players has increased with the same velocity as production output has risen. As a consequence, competition has strengthened and companies started to look for new markets and segments in order to distribute their products. Furthermore, while many European countries already cut back their FIT rates, new promotion schemes have evolved in the rest of the world, making new foreign markets even more attractive.
Thus, the ever more visible market shift from traditional to new PV markets is not coherent. Therefore, SEMI PV Group and EuPD Research have good reasons to believe that the Russian Federation, a country with tremendous potential for PV as a decentralized electricity provider, will be among the most promising markets for the PV industry in the medium and long-term. Industry experts seem to share this view. According to the view of a relevant machinery supplier, Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States offer great market potential.
Against this background, our new Shared Service is intended to provide your company with a comprehensive overview of the Russian PV Market in order to position yourself ideally in this sustainably growing market.
“The UK Photovoltaic Market 2010: Tapping the Fullest Potential “ (Call Closed)
With a total installed capacity of around only 18 MW in 2008, the development of the UK’s PV sector has been rather slow in the past. In fact, PV technology has been thought to have only a niche application. However, the generous feed-in tariff which was introduced in the UK on April 1st, 2010, will undoubtedly have an enormous impact on the PV industry. While many European countries, such as Germany for example, are either in the process of cutting back their FIT rates, or under negotiations to do so, the UK has decided to go against the flow and introduce quite an attractive promotion scheme for solar energy, thereby creating the prospect for a new and interesting PV market. Many experts indicate that the new FIT has the potential of making the United Kingdom one of Europe’s most promising PV markets in the near future.
In this context, “The UK Photovoltaic Market 2010: Tapping the Fullest Potential” offers valuable insight to the underlying potential of this upcoming market. Our new Shared Service aims to give external players the information needed to develop successful market entry strategies for this newly emerging sustainable market.

European PV ModulePriceMonitor© (Call Open)
Besides the cost situation of a company and consumer demand, market-orientated pricing is most importantly determined by the competitive situation within a market. Recent studies of the German PV market demonstrate that price is a deciding factor for both installers as
well as end customers. In the first half of 2009, the prices for PV products decreased considerably due to various causes, e.g. the
downturn of the Spanish market. In the future, PV module prices will certainly be subject to further price fluctuations. For this
reason, the quarterly survey “European PV ModulePriceMonitor” can provide decision makers with essential information for a
market and customer conform pricing in Germany, Italy, Spain and France:
- Purchase prices of the three module technologies (monocrystalline, polycrystalline, thin film technologies) and their shares in the total market volume.
- Differences in purchase prices according to model origins, namely: domestic brand manufacturers, foreign brand manufacturers and no-name products.
- Current system sales prices for rooftop PV systems.
- New: module prices of the most used brands.
- New: forecast scenario of price development for three module technologies for the next three and six months.
- New: analysis of price differences between certain groups of installers.
- Shared Services - Be part of an exclusive client group and receive profound market information at a preferential price

US InstallerMonitor 2010© (Call closed)
Within the last few years, the number of market players has significantly increased in the PV industry and new business models and customer segments have emerged. Since the financial crisis, the US administration has implemented many new financial incentives supporting the clean energy sector – including the PV industry. However, conditions for the development of the PV business largely depend on the highly diverse state energy policies. Due to their attractive framework conditions, high renewable energy targets and preferable natural conditions, states like California, New Jersey, Colorado, New York and Florida boast a high potential for the expansion of PV. Competition has visibly strengthened in most of these states.
Against this background, the “US InstallerMonitor 2010©” will analyze the current developments in selected US state markets from the solar installers’ perspective. The focus of the research project will be on the relationship between suppliers and purchasers. To be more specific, the subject is an in-depth analysis of installers’ procurement management.
The research design is well established and has proven highly successful: In the last four years, EuPD Research has conducted similar shared service projects analyzing the German PV market and other top European PV markets.

Recent studies carried out by EuPD Research on the US PV market demonstrate that price is a deciding factor for both installers and end customers.
The prices for PV modules in the US have fallen drastically: This can be attributed to a number of reasons such as excess supply in other PV markets and the weak dollar.
